Carugiu is located in the historic center of Manarola. Manarola is a part of the Cinque Terre, along with the villages of Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso.The name, “Carugiu”, is the name in the village dialect of the street on which we are located, Via Ettore Cozzani. A “Carugiu” is a narrow street lined on both sides with tall, contiguous houses, the typical building style of the region of Liguria. The B&B is situated on 2 floors of our 4-storey house.Carugiu B&B is just minutes on foot from the train station, parking, the sea, hiking trails, shops and restaurants.

Thank you so much for your reply. I did not realize that it would be coming to this website so I did not check it until today. I have found a place in Vernazza that has an available room. It is called Camere Nicolina. After reading your note, I wonder if it is a good place to stay or not for a single woman in her mid 60’s who is fairly physically active. Do you think it is a good place or should I re-consider and stay in Monterroso? I would appreciate your opinion.

Camere Nicolina has a second floor room (Via Roma) and the other is in a “carugio” which is one of the old narrow street in Vernazza. Typically this kind of street (carugi) are a little bit challenging because are going up and down the village and you walk on stone paths. I don’t know your situation but it would be better asking the owner about the location. I don’t think you have to change village, however please be sure that the accommodation is easily reachable. Be aware that in Cinque Terre walking is the only way to go around once you arrive to the rail stations.The bus service arrive just at the beginning of the villages and then you have to walk.Keep this in mind especially when you have baggages.
